UK Walking Trips.

Each year I have several walking trips in the UK. This changes year on year so please check back here to see what is upcoming.

All my trips are fully catered providing you with breakfast, lunch, evening meal and all the snacks you can munch. Essentially the price you see is all that you will need to spend for the entire trip other than any alcohol.

Isle of Skye Walking Week

28th September - 4th October 2024

This is a popular trip with just 9 places available. You will be fed lots, professionally guided by myself, Hayley and Jules Buckley – who happens to be my mum and also hold the Mountain Leader Award. You will be shown as much of the island as we can squeeze in.

The Misty Isle boat trip delivers every time on wildlife, scenery and remote walking sensations.

The trip for 2024 will see us walk some of the wild and stunning Skye trail amongst other walks.

  • A typical trip to Skye could include any of this:

    Trotternish Ridge

Storr/The Quirang/Dunvegan (according to the groups previous visits)

    Point of Sleat

It could also include many other locations not listed, depending opon weather conditions.

West Highland Way

Staying in a variety of accommodation along the route from hotels to cute hobbit houses. Hayley and Jules Buckley (my Mum! Also, a Mountain Leader), will guide you, feed you, transport your luggage and hopefully entertain you on this classic long distance walk from the Lowlands to the Highlands of Scotland. Accommodation will be on a twin or triple shared basis.

The West Highland Way stretches 96 miles (154 Km) from Milngavie to Fort William, taking in a huge variety of scenery along the way, from countryside parks to loch-shores and open moorlands to steep mountains. The trail, which opened in 1980, was Scotland’s first officially designated Long Distance Route, and is now designated by Scottish Natural Heritage as one of Scotland’s Great Trails. The path uses many ancient roads, including ancient drovers’ roads, military roads dating to the Jacobite uprisings and old coaching routes. It is usually walked from south to north, making it a journey from the Lowlands to the Highlands.

  • The itinerary below covers the whole distance in 7 days:

Milngavie to Drymen: 12 miles/19 km
Drymen to Rowardennan: 15 miles/24 km
Rowardennan to Inverarnan: 14 miles/22.5 km
Inverarnan to Tyndrum: 12 miles/19.5 km
Tyndrum to Inveroran: 9 miles/14.5 km
    Inveroran to Kingshouse : 10 miles/16 km
    Kingshouse to Kinlochleven: 9 miles/ 14.5 km
Kinlochleven to Fort William: 15 miles/24 km

  • Please get in touch with regards to dates for 2025.

  • This will be a challenge with some long days so training for this trip is a must, and is very achievable by those with the right mind set and determination.

There are possibilities to shorten days for those who need to.

    Your luggage will be transported.

  • Elgol to Camusunary Bay coastal walk. Sgurr na Stri.
Mcleods Maidens to a remote bothy for lunch stop.
    A circuit of the Quirang.
Boat trip to Loch Coruisk and walk through Glen Sligachan.
A peak on the Cuillin Ridge itself.

The Cape Wrath Experience

Part Two: 19th April 2025

The Cape Wrath Trail is an unofficial, unmarked and magnificently wild long-distance route from Fort William to Cape Wrath, the most north westerly point of mainland Scotland. A superb and challenging route for experienced long-distance backpackers, the Trail passes through some of Scotland’s most spectacular landscapes.

There is no officially sanctioned route for the Trail and one of its joys is that every walker can plan the exact route for him or herself. The original idea for the trail was by David Paterson who published a photographic book in 1996; since then, there have been several different routes suggested by a variety of authors and other walkers.

This trek usually takes around three weeks. My plan is to run it over two separate weeks covering the most remote sections to enable anyone to attempt it and not be restricted by work, fitness, time away from family. Three weeks is a long time and big commitment. Please discuss with me if you have the time and want to trek the full trip in one go.

My vision is to enable everyone to have the chance to try this incredible route and not feel like it is a trek too far. You will get to experience the remotest toughest sections with full support, and even kit carried if required.  I plan to provide a support package on this enabling those who can’t carry 7 days equipment and food supplies, by having a team ready to drop in kit, food and offer support. Heavier kit items will be transported or carried for those who feel it is a little beyond them. Equally for those who wish to carry their full or partial kit, by all means go for it and we will support this. There will be escape options with transport waiting in various locations should you need to get out. Please be aware though, this is not a trip with easy access at any point. It is wild and most walk out options are still a full day.

You will need to be as fit as possible to complete this route and the terrain will be varied. With forestry tracks, good footpaths to boggy sections, tree routes, boulders and pathless terrain. Please get in touch if you have trouble negotiating rocky areas. There are not any particularly steep areas, other than the Glomach falls section which does have a trail that is a little exposed.

I have written the itinerary of the trek we plan to take you on in full, please read both parts, hopefully you fancy it all. There is a discount for those booking both sections. Read 'Part One' and 'Part Two'.

There are 2 variation options to start, the Glenfinnan and the Great Glen.

Our start will be the Glenfinnan route.

Bespoke Scottish Walking Trips

Heading into the Highlands of Scotland can be a daunting prospect if you have never been. You could, of course, have been there plenty but lack the confidence to go alone. With such a vast area of wild and untamed country it truly is a mountain lovers paradise. Scotland has 282 Munros asking to be climbed, the possibilities are endless…. and that’s just for starters. These bespoke trips are exactly for those people who are longing to explore further afield and head into some truly wild, remote, and spectacular landscapes.

Have a chat with me about your ideas, whether it is to summit Ben Nevis or to ‘bag’ some of those more remote Munros (Scottish mountains above 3000ft). Accommodation or camping trips can be arranged depending upon your specifications, or indeed I can just meet you there to provide guiding for the day times.
