Paddleboarding River Trip

Paddling on moving water carries unseen hazards but is the ultimate fun and challenge. This gentle trip up the River Derwent into Borrowdale is the perfect experience to learn handling your board in the flow.

Setting out from Kettlewell car park on the East shore of Derwent Water, we will spend a little time ensuring everyone is comfortable and paddling well as we head then down the river.

Paddling against the flow can initially feel quite tough, but with some hints and tips you will soon get the hang of it. We aim to make it to Grange, where we stop for some homemade soup and cheese scones that I will supply for the group.

The return journey will feel a breeze, and much quicker as the current of the river flows us back to the lake, our earlier hard work rewarded by just some steering and enjoying the ride back.

Board, wetsuit, wetsuit socks, leash and buoyancy aid all provided.

Suitable for ages 12 and over, please enquire if you want a family trip.

Derwentwater Round Trip

Taking a circular trip around the entire lake gives sublime views of the fells in all directions. Islands to explore, sheltered bays and wildlife in abundance this lake has it all. Being fairly shallow, it is usually one of the warmest so those accidental fall in moments shouldn’t make it too chilly to bare.

This trip will use most of the day by the time we have prepared our kit, set off, stopped for breaks and lunch, and returned to our starting point to pack away.

I supply flasks of hot water with hot chocolate, coffee or tea to suit and a box of homemade traybake or cake for snacking on. Please bring lunch and a cold drink with you.

You are welcome to use your own paddleboard if you have one, otherwise you will be supplied with a board, wetsuit, wetsuit socks, leash and buoyancy aid.

Suitable for all ages from 12 (please contact me if you would like a family outing tailored to your specifics).

Ullswater - Paddle the Full Length

Ullswater is almost nine miles long and famous for the steamer boats that sail up and down transporting passengers eager to see the sights. Imagine paddling the entire length under your own steam. What an adventure.

Setting off from Glenridding to paddle all the way to Pooley Bridge is a real SUP journey, watching for wildlife and seeing the mountainous landscapes change from high and rugged to rolling green hillsides.

Taking lunch and drinks with us, with cars arranged so that there is transport at one end, (of course you could choose the steamer back if the timing works out), we will explore bays and coves, beaches and rocky outcrops. Stopping to snack, stretch legs and lunch.

This trip is for the more experienced paddler, who has been out on a SUP a few times. Please get in touch if you want to try this trip and are unsure.

We will provide paddleboards, wetsuits, wetsuit socks, leashes and buoyancy aids. Suitable for over 14-year-olds, family trips can be arranged please enquire.
